L.A. LAUNCHED BABAI PILIHAN ORGANIZATION (Oct.19 ,2008)

Sulu Vice Governor Hja. Nur-Ana I. Sahidulla organized the Lupah Sug Babai Pilihan Federation at ACC Capitol Site.  Lady Ann invited all the women organizations in Sulu to participate in her proposed livelihood and civic undertakings for Tausug women.

The Objectives of the Lupah Sug Babai Pilihan is to uphold women’s civil rights including right to reproductive health choice, combat violence against women and eliminate gender discrimination, access to education and training programs, to advocate peace with justice, to encourage and support livelihood programs for women entrepreneurs, to preserve and promote tausug culture, and to strengthen sisterhood and unity.

Later around 7:30 in the evening, Lady Ann holds her concert for a cause for the “Stand Up, Take Action Program” of UNFPA.  The program was attended by different women organizations in celebration of fellowship.

The program highlights the Poverty Reduction which Lady Ann reiterates further on women’s participation to help reduce poverty in Sulu.  She said, women have to stand and help fight poverty in such a way to engaged in livelihood cooperatives and Accountable to the Millennium goals in reducing high risk of maternal death and defeat the extreme poverty.  Women of today must understand their role not just play as a role model in their home but participate in the society such as nation building, continuing education and health awareness program.

The second part of the program is the Concert for a Cause featuring the Honourable Vice Governor Lady Ann Sahidulla herself accompanied by her own L.A .Band and L.A. Dancers.
Among the guest are Col. Jimmy Larida - commanding officer of MBLT 6, S/Supt. Jul Ajirim Kasim - Sulu Police Povincial Director, Dra. Lovely I. Isahac, the presidents and officers of different women organizations.

The Sulu Provincial Women’s Council is an umbrella organization of Lupah Sug Babai Pilihan Federation which consists of more than ten different women organization in Sulu.
