L.A. JOINS MINDANAO WEEK OF PEACE (Nov.27,2008)

One of the effective ways to achieve peace is by reconciling with one another either in personal and community level.

Harmony is what is meant by Integrity of Mind and Heart.  As from Hebrew word Shalom and Arabic word Salam, Peace in English, encapsulated this authentic and lasting foundation of true peace that must reign within and among individuals, societies and nations.

The Island Mindanao celebrates the annual observance of Week of Peace amid the fragile and volatile conditions of the peace negotiation between the Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and turmoil in the region.

Amidst the tides of uncertainties, Municipality of Jolo sponsored the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration. Local officials & executives of different offices, CSO’s/ NGO’s, youth organizations, different schools and institutions attended the gathering to show unity and perseverance in search of lasting peace. The gathering was held at the ACC Building, Jolo Municipal Town Hall.

Sulu Vice Governor Hja. Nur-Ana I. Sahidulla is one of the honored guests that graced the occasion of what Jolo Mayor Hussin Amin described as a very important event in the annual observance of Mindanao Week of Peace.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Honorable Sahidulla read and deliver the message of Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan in his absence.  As she reads,  “ The theme of this years Mindanao week of peace, Integrity of Heart and Mind, A Way to Reconciliation and Peace is in consonance with unity and mindset which conditioned by many conflicts and disturbances that left scars on the lives of the many”.

Anchoring to the theme of “Integrity of Mind and Heart: A Way to Reconciliation and Peace”, the Mindanao week long celebration “aims at integrating the Dreams, Desires, Relations, Emotions of the stakeholders in search for an everlasting peace in the island of Sulu”, the Vice Governor Sahidulla continues.

The week long peace celebration was conceptualized in the height of hostilities and Abu Sayyaf troubles in the Southwestern part of Mindanao.  This was eventually adopted by the influential religious group the Bishop-Ulama group and peace loving citizens, thus making the celebration Mindanao wide.
