L.A. LAUNCHES ADULT LEARNING CENTER (June 08, 2009)

Bringing literacy program not only for children but likewise for adults in Sulu is one of the noble hopes of the Honorable Vice Governor of Sulu, Hja. Nur- Ana “Lady Ann” Sahidulla.  

Through her humble effort and the help of Task Force Comet headed by Major General Juancho Sabban, an Adult Learning Center and Library was built at Barangay Tiptipon, Municipality of Panglima Estino, Sulu, in realizing this vision.

Books and reading materials were also provided for the library for the locals to ponder more knowledge and understanding in literature.

Gracing with the Honorable Vice Governor in the Inauguration Ceremony of the Center are MGen. Sabban, Barangay Captain Indira Fatra M. Adam and the joyful Local and Barangay Officials of Tiptipon who are very grateful for the project.

She enlightens the crowd that Tausugs, young and old alike, should persevere with education since the challenge of civilization in this present world is knowledge. “Islam teaches us the importance of knowledge and the essence of Iqra in the Holy Quran”, she said.

She furthers, building libraries and schools for each Barangay addresses the literacy program of the Government where Sulu is one of the lowest in literacy rates throughout the Philippines.

As the program ended, constituents of Tiptipon proudly express their support for the Vice Governor in her future bid if she runs for a Congressional sit in their district.
