L.A. COMMEMORATES WORLD AIDS DAY (Dec. 01, 2008)

Instead of wearing red ribbons on World AIDS Day, about 100 members of Gay and Proud (GAP), Sulu Chapter, gathered at the ACC Building, Provincial Capitol, wearing their best red cocktail outfit in commemorating the 20th anniversary of World Aids Day.

The program started with an opening doxology performed by GAP members.

“It is a must for us to do something that could prevent the spread of such a grievous sickness – the AIDS, not only in our locality but also throughout the country”. Honorable Vice Governor Lady Ann Sahidulla in her speech told the participants adding that “information dissemination is very much important and only through education is needed to ensure good health of the Tausugs in general”.

According to the recent data reported by the IPHO, More than 33 million people in the world live with HIV/AIDS, and just 10 percent of them receive the medications that have made surviving AIDS possible.

GAP members as a pledge lighted candles to mark their support in preventing the spread of the dreaded decease. Fashion show made the occasion more vibrant and awards was given to the stars of the night.

The honorable Vice Governor Lady Ann I. Sahidulla, who is very supportive to GAP, sponsored the said event.
